Watery Ramble around Bedelands: Beautiful demoiselles, Banded demoiselles, Large-red damselfly and Brown Hawker seen along the stream Mel Ellis |

Details of the butterflies recorded at Bedelands Farm this afternoon in the company of 5 others. Butterflies recorded are; Small Skipper 16 Large White 12 Small White 5 Green Veined White 1 Purple Hairstreak 10 Small Copper 21 Common Blue 81 Holly Blue 1 Red Admiral 2 Comma 2 Marbled White 1 Speckled Wood 1 Gatekeeper 428 Meadow Brown 405 Ringlet 22 Total 1008 butterflies, 15 species. Also seen Silver Y and Six Spot Burnet moths together with Cinnabar larvae on Ragwort. Grass Snake near the football fields and although no sightings of Silver Washed Fritillaries we saw a strong contender fly by at Valebridge Common but not sufficiently close to identify. David Pyle

Eastlands Farm Whilst walking over Eastlands we saw the following butterflies: Meadow Brown ,Gatekeeper, Ringlet, Small White,and a first, a White Admiral. We also saw 2 Bullfinches and 4 Whitethroats. Pangdean Meadows At Pangdean we saw Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Large White,and another first, a Silver-washed Fritillary. This is now the second site in the Green Circle we have seen this Fritillary. We also saw 7 Long-tailed Tits, 2 Bullfinches, and 2 Whitethroats. Barbara Allen/ Sandra Solly

Details of the butterflies recorded at Bedelands Farm in the company of 6 other people in very blustery conditions. Butterflies recorded are as follows; Small Skipper, 25 Large Skipper, 16 Large White, 4 Purple Hairstreak, 1 Small Copper, 5 Holly Blue, 1 White Admiral, 1 Red Admiral, 1 Comma, 6 Speckled Wood, 3 Marbled White, 1 Gatekeeper, 209 Meadow Brown, 247 Ringlet, 99 Total of 619 butterflies recorded, 14 species. Despite our best efforts we could not obtain a sighting of the Silver Washed Fritillary seen by Sandra and Barbara last week. David Pyle

Male Beautiful demoiselle seen in my garden [Mill Rd] this morning - unusual as no streams that near... Also 8 Swifts are screaming around - not sure where they are nesting. Have reported on the RSPB site. Melanie Ellis |

A casual dragonfly and damselfly survey at Bedelands resulted in us seeing an Emperor Dragonfly, Southern Hawker, Ruddy Darter, Beautiful Demoiselle, and Azure and Blue-tailed damselflies; at the same time we had good sightings of FAB butterflies: 2 White Admirals, 2 Silver-Washed Fritillaries,1 Marble White.
