A four hour bird survey around Bedelands today was delightful with the sun shining and the birds calling.  The most interesting to us were 7 longtail tits, 3 nuthatches, 4 great spotted woodpeckers, 3 wrens, 5 songthrushes, 15 redwings, 4 treecreepers, 9 mallards, 2 moorhens, 11 canada geese, 1 goldcrest, 1 marsh tit, pair of bullfinches, 1 male pheasant and 1 kingfisher by the Mill Pond.
In Watford Meadow we saw 2 ladybirds, 1 red admiral, 1 comma, 1 bright yellow brimstone and found 2 brown hairstreak eggs. We also saw a small unidentified mammal (mouse like).

Little Egret seen in 'Telly-Tubby-Land' beside York Road, in the stream and surrounding trees.  A passer-by said it had been in the area for many weeks.  Flock of about 12 redwing feeding all around the area.  Grey wagtail at ford of Pookebourne Stream and sparrowhawk overhead.

Little Egret still in the ditches at Telly Tubby land (the beautifully mown undulating 'park' beside York Road) with occasional short flights to the surrounding trees when disturbed.   About 12 redwings feeding a few feet from the road.  Long-tailed tits and plenty of commoner birds in the nearby Maltings field with overflying sparrowhawk and gulls.  Enjoy this patch before the houses destroy this lovely haven.
