During our walk today on Bedelands Farm Nature Reserve, in poor butterfly weather 9 of us recorded the following number of butterflies,
Large White 2 Small White 1 Small Copper 7 Common Blue 170 Gatekeeper 408 Meadow Brown 145
Total of 733 butterflies recorded, 6 species, no Brown Hairsteaks but the weather was against us.

Whilst walking over Bedelands Farm Nature Reserve and the meadows near Freeks Lane we saw the following Butterflies - Gatekeepers, Large Whites, Common Blues, Small Coppers, Small Tortoiseshell, Comma and a Silver-Washed Fritillary. We also saw an Emperor Dragonfly and heard Buzzards and a Green Woodpecker. Barbara Allen/ Sonya Parker.

Butterflies seen on Butterfly Walk on Bedelands Farm Nature Reserve - Gate keepers, Meadow Browns, Speckled Woods, Small Coppers, Common Blues, Holly Blues, Large Whites, Small Whites. We also saw a male Banded Demoiselle Damselfly, an Emperor Dragonfly, a pair of mating Southern Hawker Dragonflies and on the farm site we found a pygmy shrew. Nature Team

Glow-worms seen at Bedelands Nature Reserve during the bat and moth evening. Around the edges of the meadows near the railway line from about 9pm onwards. Also seen at Batcheors Farm and Nightingale Meadows near the railway bridge. Nature Team |

Details of the butterflies recorded on our walk today at Bedelands Farm in the company of 7 others including the Queen of the Silver Washed Fritillaries, Barbara Allen, although we did not see one at all!! Species seen and recorded; Small Skipper 4 Large White 9 Small White 5 Green Veined White 1 Purple Hairstreak 2 Small Copper 23 Common Blue 244 Holly Blue 4 Red Admiral 1 Speckled Wood 8 Gatekeeper 633 Meadow Brown 247 Ringlet 9 Total 1190 butterflies, 13 species.
