Arrow showing location of St Johns CommonThis site of 7 hectares to the west of St Johns Park and adjacent to Royal George Road, West Street and Fairfield Road, is largely an area for games on mown grass. However, the western area of approximately 2 hectares comprises a pond, small woodland copses and hedgerows which make a good nature area. Recently this area has been adopAerial photo of St Johns Commonted by the 8th Burgess Hill Scout Group as their headquarters are adjacent. With the assistance of the MSDC Park Rangers and the Friends group they will conduct conservation management and other activities to enhance the site and increase their knowledge. This long-term project will benefit both the scouts and the local community, who it is hoped will form a local ‘team’ within the Friends of Burgess Hill Green Circle Network.
