General:  This site of 15 hectares, owned by Mid Sussex District Council, lies to the south of Burgess Hill and Nightingale Lane and adjacent to the west side of the railway line.  It is connected by a bridge over the railway (no motor vehicles) to Batchelors Farm Meadows to the east.  It comprises meadows and hedgerows with two small parcels of young woodland and two ponds.  It has excellent views of The South Downs and in particular the Jack and Jill Windmills on Clayton Hill.

An information leaflet and a separate self-guided walk leaflet are in the process of being devised by the Friends in conjunction with MSDC.  The existing management plan is currently being updated and will be gradually implemented.  A 'team' from The Friends of Burgess Hill Green Circle Network, has just been formed and will be conducting conservation work iunder the guidance of the management plan which is currently being revised. Guided walks are planned and a cycle ride around the entire Green Circle in August passes through the site.  Natural England have agreed that it would be granted Local Nature Reserve status if the landowners applied for it.  Hopefully this will happen in 2011.
